8 Days Uganda Cultural Safari

  • Day 1: Pick Up from Airport
    Upon arrival, you will be picked from the airport and transferred to your accommodation. For early arrivals, you may embark on bird watching adventure at Entebbe Botanical Gardens where the sighting of various birdlife such as Northern masked weaver, black necked weaver, and golden black weaver. Also, the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC), offers another great bird watching experience with over 170 bird species including grosbeak baglafecht, gabar goshawk and African Fish Eagle. Get back to the hotel in time for dinner and an overnight stay.

    Day 2: Transfer to Kampala
    Pick up from the hotel after breakfast and head for the city making quick stopovers at Kigungu landing site, Muzinga Square and the magnificent Bemba cave in Ziika Forest. These stopovers will offer you with marvelous views and rich history.

    Begin exploration of Buganda with a visit to the Royal tombs at Kasubi that are taken care of by the descendants of the King’s wives who bear all the tales and rich history of the preservation of the World Heritage site. Have quick lunch in the city before heading out to the Buganda King’s coronation grounds at Buddo, Naggalabi where reigning kings are installed and handed tools of power to preside over his subjects. Proceed to the Wamala tombs, that house the jawbone of Kabaka Suuna II. The jawbone that is believed to contain the spirit of the deceased king is housed in one of the shrines staffed by his descendants. Proceed to the Katereke Prison ditch, a savage ditch created by Kabaka Kalema of Buganda in 19th Century. So much history of power struggles in Buganda’s political systems is told here.

    Day 3: City Tour
    Visit the Uganda Museum to see the well-curated magnificent ethnographic exhibits and archaeological natural history displays. Visit some of the prominent religious institutions such as Bahai Temple in Kikaya, the only temple of a kind in Africa. Proceed to the Martyrs Shrine in Namugongo where close to 50 young believers were killed for defying Kabaka Mwanga’s orders on religion. Return to the city centre to tour Rubaga and Namirembe Cathedrals and finally the Hindu Temple before retiring to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

    Day 4: Transfer to Jinja
    Head to Jinja after breakfast where you will explore various natural wonders such as Mabira Forest, Rippon Falls, tea and sugar estates among other attractions. Visit the Owen falls and Bujagali falls before proceeding to the Busoga Kingdom headquarters and the king’s (Kyabazinga) palace for a tete a tete with the custodians and curators of the museums at the palace. Retire for the day at your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

    Day 5: River Nile Experience
    Embark on the discovery of the source of River Nile. A tour of the Speke Monument and boat ride on the magnificent Nile River will reward you with spectacular views of the source. After your lunch a tour to the Bujagali falls will engage you in quad biking along the banks of the Nile where you explore various paths and trails. Transfer for dinner and overnight.

    Day 6: Transfer to Tororo
    Transfer to Tororo, a refreshing journey with various sighting on the way such the baboons at Busitema 20Km away from towards Tororo. Climb the Tororo Rock Hill raising at an altitude of 4865 feet above sea level, also visit the ancestral caves and various rock paintings. Enjoy cultural performances from the natives before retiring to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

    Day 7: Sipi Falls
    After your breakfast, drive off to Mbale for a visit to the superlative Sipi Falls. You will be rewarded with views of a series of the three waterfalls plugging along the lower slopes of Mount Elgon. The different trails will expose you to the magnificent flora surrounding these waterfalls as you descend for the exposure. Go for a community walk where you will visit the Bagisu Local elders that will expose you to the different cultural practices and way of life of the natives in the area. Transfer for dinner and overnight stay.

    Day 8: Departure
    Set out for the return journey to Kampala, relieve the captivating journey to Bugisu. Lunch enroute and arrive in time for dinner and overnight stay in preparation for the departure.
